Show us your muse, says Brie Anne Demkiw. What subject keeps me coming back? Devon of course, it’s the most wonderful place in England and I’m very lucky to live here. I’ve posted many times about the coast, the estuary and the river, and a little about my city. If I think of a muse, what springs to mind is Dartmoor, that expanse of wilderness that I love. Here are a few images from the moor, I hope you find them inspiring too.

Such beautiful landscapes.
Thanks Cee, it’s a great place to roam!
I’m not sure a subject is the same as a muse, but I get the drift of the challenge. And your Dartmoor is inspiring. Everything I love: wilderness, openness, views, emptiness. Nice one Gilly 🙂
I totally agree Jude! Dartmoor, well I’m sure you’ll find out soon, hope you get to go one sunny day!
I can’t imagine you living anywhere else, Gilly 🙂 Lovely images!
I wouldn’t want to live on the moor – except maybe in summer, but I do love going up when I can!
I didn’t mean literally living there, Gilly. Just that you so often post about it and use it for inspiration 🙂 Happy weekend! A quiet one?
I’m off to St Ives for the day with a friend tomorrow (late birthday trip) so a bit of a drive, but nice lunch and cream tea if I can fit it in! and you?
It’s National Cream Tea day today! (says Jude 🙂 ) No, nothing special. Have a good time!
Your photos make me want to be there walking with my camera.

Maybe you will one day 🙂
I’d love to see Hadrain’s Wall, too. I’m a big history buff and have read all Rosemary Sutcliff’s books.
My daughter has walked Hadrians walk, I remember her loving it!
Great photos of this magnificent landscape! I’m in awe with the sunset (or sunrising) capture!
it was sunset in September and the view was stunning!
Sublime shots & place!
Thank you, it’s a beautiful and ancient landscape.
Oh, I would love to borrow your muse, if only for a day!
Lovely shots!
What a lovely thing to say, maybe one day you will visit Dartmoor!
No wonder you love this place. Superb views. I especially love the sunset. ❤ ❤ ❤
It’s 400 square miles of wilderness, sometimes the mist comes down and you can get totally disorientated. You have to go well prepared.:-)
Glad you know your way around. We wouldn’t want you to get lost. ❤ ❤ ❤
I like the wayyou have defined the muse for you as a particular landscape.
Thanks Suzanne, I’m sure it resonates with you.
I too like the idea of landscape as muse: it would have to be mine as well – although a specific landscape might be harder to identify. the last photo really gives a sense of what the moorland is like.
I guess I’ve known Dartmoor all my life, in the limited way that a city dweller can know it. It was a toss up with east Devon.
Lovely photos. Landscapes are always cool in my mind, and eye!!
Ah then you would like Dartmoor!
A truly wonderful place to go wandering, Gilly. 🙂
As long as you go prepared 🙂
Lovely images, Gilly!
Thanks Sue, I expect you’ve been to Dartmoor?
Yes, a number of times, but quite some years ago….
The sunset is stunning Gilly a lovely place to roam.
Even if you stay close to the road you can enjoy its beauty!
You live in a beautiful part of Britain Gilly and I think Jude may be moving there too…
It’s huge; plenty for everyone
400 square miles to get lost in!
I love getting lost.
Love your landscapes of the moor, Gilly.
Thanks Jane, praise indeed from an expert!
You are very kind, thank you.
