January Small Stone# Two

Copper

Your crown of curls lack moisture, essential oils.

Trimmed, layered on top and sides,

thinning but holding on.

Bronze highlights as the clouds gape,

 lingering on dry furls.

 A crispy crest, shivering, falling

crinkly towards the ground.

About Lucid Gypsy

Gilly Mbachu Goldsworthy is a mum to two kids that are supposed to be grown up and mma to a four year old and a new born baby boy. None of that means that I am grown up though! I love writing – travel and quite edgy fiction – and being an OU student for a degree which remains to be seen. What I do best though is counselling; I’ve been privileged to work with many people through big changes.

These leaves are even special when wet, and they return to copper crispiness as soon as they dry. Beautiful.

  2. Beautiful tone and sheen to these leaves, and I like the depth of the layers. What kind are they? I love anything copper-coloured.

  3. And many thanks for adding me this week to your Wordless Wednesday list. :)

Love the mataphor! I don’t know very many people who can write like that AND shoot fab photos! :-)

  10. Wonderful imagery in every word, Gilly. I love your small stones for each day. I had thought about particiapating but didn’t want to have time constraint. I’m trying a new non-pressure to post every challenge blog approach this year. You are doing these stones masterfully. Your vision is open to seeing even the simplest things in a grand way. The colors of the leaves are beautiful.
