Weekly Photo Challenge: Geometry

There are some very clever tips at the Daily Post today http://dailypost.wordpress.com/2012/11/02/weekly-photo-challenge-geometry/

Now, I’m sure the geometry was accurate in these three very old cathedrals but sadly craning my neck and holding a camera still and straight has made them look a touch wonky! Here is Gloucester cathedral.

Chichester

and last, the best of all is Exeter

check out the fan vaulting in my earlier post if you don’t believe me! http://lucidgypsy.wordpress.com/2012/04/28/exeter-cathedral-2/

As I looked up, Lynne looked down!http://lynneayersbeyondthebrush.wordpress.com/2012/11/02/dont-forget-to-look-down/#

And here is a newbie with a lovely quilt!

I love writing – travel and quite edgy fiction – and being an OU student for a degree which remains to be seen. What I do best though is counselling; I’ve been privileged to work with many people through big changes.

Ah now, you see, I thought of putting up that last one, but I decided to look down instead of up ;)

  4. I can’t imagine trying to hold a camera looking UP. You did a wonderful job. Too bad you couldn’t have laid down on the floor. Beautiful shots.

They’re all great pieces of geometry, Gilly, but of course my favourite is the organ at Chichester. :)

  14. Amazing, those incredibly high roof spans in cathedrals …. love the arched domes, and leading lines, nicely captured.

  15. Great pick for the theme of Geometry!
I can imagine how painful it must have been, but worth it! :-)

Stunning geometrical images Gilly , wow :)

  21. I can’t decide which one I love the best. They don’t look wonky (love this word) to me.
It is difficult to get photo’s where you have to look up. My balance usually goes and I fall sideways; that cured me real quick from taking shots where I have to bend backwards. I’ve often thought of lying on the floor. Do you think people would think it was odd? hahaha
You get a gold star for attempting it. I always enjoy your photo’s, Gilly. I know I’ll never get to these places so seeing yours always takes me to wonderful locations. Keep posting fabulous ones like these.
    Toodles …….

And I’m the same about your posts, isn’t that the wonder of blogging, I’ve learnt so much about other places that I will never visit and its so much better than television when you get real peoples views. Have a happy week my dear :-)

Wow! These are all just marvelous! One of the best entries I have seen so far Gilly :-)

  24. Gilly, I think these are great, judging from the fact that I don’t know zilch about geometry.
