Recently I came across something that disturbed me. In my travels on the web I saw a photo that had been put up on a blog - of a woman. Well a woman's behind actually. When I first saw it I thought 'WOW', how cool. A celebration of this gorgeous piece of female form.

Now we females, we come in all shapes and sizes.

About Lucid Gypsy

Gilly Mbachu Goldsworthy is a mum to two kids that are supposed to be grown up and mma to a four year old and a new born baby boy. None of that means that I am grown up though! I love writing – travel and quite edgy fiction – and being an OU student for a degree which remains to be seen. What I do best though is counselling; I’ve been privileged to work with many people through big changes.

I heard about this incident and I thought it was not in good taste of that viewer to send a public message to her. If he really cared about her being overweight (for health reasons, body image reasons, and modeling to young people reasons— one can argue they are legitimate reasons!), he should have sent a private letter to her. Doing it publicly smacked of bullying as she called him on it.

I am a physician and I do worry from a medical standpoint about my relatives who are moderately to severely overweight. But this sensitive issue should be discussed in a gentle and loving manner and in a private setting. Not a public venue!

There are individuals in this world, with no empathy. Such is the case with respect to the man, who in my opinon, was looking to hurt someone, emotionally. Well, he picked on the wrong person as evident by her response to this verbal attack. Kuddos to her! Individuals like the aforementioned man, tend to hurt others in a very calculated, and deliberate way, in order to feel”good” by accomplishing their goals. Sad, but true. These are grown-up bullies. Glad she stood up to him. We need more like her. Blessings.

  3. I’ve seen this recently. When are people going to get a life. I believe the news anchor does a commendable job.

Sadly some people don’t get it. I had an exchange with the same blogger and that is what prompted my Define Yourself post… I chose not to elaborate so much but the idea is the same. We can’t allow others to define us by their standards… Sad.

  5. I agree with Likeitiz. The man should have handled it in a sensitive manner. If we care and respect for someone, we think of their welfare first and not make them a feast for the media. Personally, I think all women are beautiful in their own unique way and what matters is what’s in their hearts.

I would love to hear from you . . .
