100 Word Challenge for Grown Ups Week# 44

Once again it’s time for the 100 word challenge and this weeks theme is the passing of time – sixty years to be precise and a poem! If you would like to join in pop over to http://jfb57.wordpress.com/2012/05/28/100-word-challenge-for-grown-ups-week44/

Stash Sixty

Sixty a time for six diamonds

uncut but too late for us

diamonds for a daughter

and a daughters daughter

celebrating sixty years

that have passed

Daughter may travel

on her diamonds and back

before we become dust

sixty a time for six diamonds

uncut but too late for us

Daughter’s daughter may plant

roots with her diamonds

a home across town from us

Daughter’s daughter will you

raise an empire

founded on a name

and legacy

of sixty years to trust

Sixty was a time for six diamonds

too late for them

but a future for daughters and sons

About Lucid Gypsy

Gilly Mbachu Goldsworthy is a mum to two kids that are supposed to be grown up and mma to a four year old and a new born baby boy. None of that means that I am grown up though! I love writing – travel and quite edgy fiction – and being an OU student for a degree which remains to be seen. What I do best though is counselling; I’ve been privileged to work with many people through big changes.

I really enjoy the feeling of generations that runs through your work. Especially with how feminine it is. Very empowering, even in so subtle and lovely a way. :)

  5. Fabulous! I love your writing! I love the passing of heirlooms down female generations – the feminine bond is so strong.

  6. I love the idea that there may be an empire born of your sixty years of love and trust.

  7. Lynne Ayers says:

This is really intersting – no plain little ditty.

    What a great poem :-)

  9. You amaze me whenever I am visiting here. Another, well
written, poem expressing a period of time we all travel through.
It absolutely captures the heart of womanhood.

by me in my inability to keep up with all postings and comments.

Oh well done Gilly. This is lovely. Of course I’m to be a grandma in October. They know which sort but are not telling everyone so I may be getting a pink one! I shall return to reread if I do!

I would love to hear from you . . .
